Rent an electric car in Armenia: charging guide for tourists
You can rent an electric car in Yerevan: Kayak shows a Tesla Model 3 (or similar) from about USD 70 a day through Rentmotors, and an average of USD 90 a day for an EV against USD 47 for a petrol car. Before you book, ask which connector the car has, whether a cable is included, who pays for charging and whether the car may leave Armenia. Charging in the city is easy; outside Yerevan it needs a plan.

Ask the rental company before you book
- Which connector does the car have? Type 1, Type 2, CCS or Tesla port; see connector types.
- Is a charging cable included, and an adapter if one is needed?
- Who pays for charging, and is there a charging card or app account? If not, you can use our app as a guest; see payment methods.
- What is the battery level at pick-up and the required level at return?
- May the car leave Armenia? We found no EV-specific rule; it depends on the rental contract. Ask in writing before heading to Georgia.
- What happens if you run out of charge? Check assistance and recovery terms.
Charging as a tourist
- In Yerevan the EV Armenia network has 7 locations; PlugShare counts hundreds of stations in the city including DC fast chargers from other operators. See charging stations in Yerevan.
- You do not need an account. Open the app, scan the QR code and pay with a card or Idram; see how to charge.
- Outside the capital stations are fewer and ours are AC only, so plan an overnight at a hotel with a charger.

Two trips to try
Yerevan to Sevan and Dilijan fits a long weekend. Yerevan to Goris, Tatev and Meghri needs more planning because stations are far apart. For the north and Georgia see the Tbilisi route.
Tips
- Start each day with a full battery and keep a 20% reserve.
- Winter and mountain roads use more energy than the range figure suggests.
- Photograph the charge level and cable at pick-up and drop-off.
- Check the station is working in the app before you drive to it.
