Yerevan - Goris - Tatev - Meghri by electric car
On the southern road from Yerevan towards Syunik, the EV Armenia network has AC stations at Areni, Shaki near Sisian, Tatev and Kapan. We have none in Goris or Meghri. The distances between stops are long and the stations are AC, so plan an overnight at Areni, Tatev or Kapan, start each day with a full battery and do not rely on stopping for a quick top-up.
The southern route in brief
The M2 highway runs from Yerevan through the Ararat plain and the south of the country towards Kapan and Meghri near the Iranian border, according to the list of Armenian highways on Wikipedia. Some places people go to, such as Goris and Jermuk, lie off or beside this road, so check your own route before you leave. This is the longest stretch of road in the country where our network is thin, so planning matters more than anywhere else.
| Stop | Straight-line distance from Yerevan | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Areni | about 78 km | Wine-making village in Vayots Dzor Province; a first stop and a good place for a long lunch |
| Shaki (Sisian) | about 144 km | Near the waterfall, in Syunik Province |
| Tatev | about 176 km | At the Tatev gateway; useful overnight before or after the monastery |
| Kapan | about 196 km | Syunik’s regional centre area, towards Meghri |
Distances are straight lines between coordinates in our catalogue. The mountain roads are much longer than straight lines. Verify the route in your navigator.

How to plan the trip
- Day 1: Yerevan to Areni or Shaki. Leave with a full battery; charge during dinner and overnight.
- Day 2: to Tatev. Mountain climbs use more energy than a flat range figure suggests. Arrive with a reserve of at least 20%.
- Day 3: to Kapan and beyond. Charge fully before you continue towards Meghri, where we have no station.
Gaps and limits
- No EV Armenia stations in Goris, Jermuk or Meghri. Other operators have announced fast chargers across the country (for example Auto Gallery Recharge, plan of April 2026), but we have not confirmed that those are open.
- All our stations are AC. Count on a long stop at each one.
- Cold and altitude reduce range. Winter trips need a larger margin.
- Border. This page does not cover crossing into Iran. We found no EV-specific information, and a rental car may not be allowed out of Armenia under its contract.
Open the app the day before to check that your stations are working. AC charging on our network costs 100 AMD per kWh. To learn the basics, read how to charge. No car yet? See renting an electric car. A shorter loop is Sevan and Dilijan.
