Short answer

EV Armenia has 5 charging locations in Vanadzor with 10 AC connectors, at restaurants, a bakery and a hotel. Charging costs 100 AMD per kWh (catalog of 28 October 2026). They are AC points, so plan a meal or an overnight stay. Vanadzor is the largest stop on the northern road to Georgia; Gyulagarak and Alaverdi follow.

EV Armenia stations in Vanadzor

Vanadzor is the main city of Lori Province, about 70 km from Yerevan in a straight line (the road is longer). It has more of our points than any other regional town, so it works as a base for the north. Most are at places where you would stop to eat anyway.

Use them well

  • Eat while you charge. On AC, an hour at a restaurant adds only a modest amount of range. For a real top-up, stay longer or stay overnight at the hotel point.
  • Pick the right connector. The catalog shows Type 1, Type 2 and GB/T per point; see connector types.
  • Check live status in the app before you set off.

The northern road

Beyond Vanadzor our network continues with Gyulagarak, Alaverdi and Ptghavan towards the Georgian border, about 16, 34 and 55 km further north in a straight line. The M3 road runs from Margara via Ashtarak and Vanadzor to the border at Dzoramut, according to the list of Armenian highways on Wikipedia. See the Yerevan to Georgia route for the full plan, and Gyumri for the western road.

How long to stay and what it adds

Energy added is power times time, and on AC the limit is the lower of the connector power and your car’s onboard charger. The catalog lists up to 21 kW on the strongest Type 2 point of the network, so a car with a 7 kW onboard charger takes roughly 7 kWh in an hour on a point of that power or more. Many mid-size electric cars use 15 to 20 kWh per 100 km as a rule of thumb, so an hour on AC adds roughly 35 to 45 km. Trust your own trip computer over this estimate.

Altitude and winter

Vanadzor lies at roughly 1,350 m above sea level, and the road north climbs and descends through mountain country. Cold lowers range and slows charging of a cold battery, so in winter plan a longer stop and a higher starting charge. Check the forecast before you leave Yerevan.
